In 1856, Eterna the Swiss watch company was founded by Josef Girard and Urs Schild in Grenchen, Switzerland. The first Eterna watches were produced in 1876 and this was the beginning for Eterna as a forerunner of its pioneering role in fine Swiss watchmaking.
In 1995 Eterna was bought by the German company Porsche Design.
Eterna today remains one of the very few watch houses who make and continue to improve the heart of the watch, its mechanical movement. Eterna watches continue to make progress with aesthetic and technical craftsmanship in mind.
