What is the difference between resealing your watch and water testing?
When we replace a battery in your watch, we apply a special silicon grease and change the back gasket. This prevents water entering from the back case of your watch.
In most cases this is enough to allow you to wear your watch while washing your hands or accidental splashes, however there is no guarantee for water resistance.
There are many seals, on the glass and crown in which water may penetrate through. A simple example is when a front windscreen seal is replaced in your car, this will prevent water coming in through the front windscreen, however your side windows, or rear windscreen seals may require replacing, to prevent water entering your car at all.
If you require full water resistant testing, then an additional charge will be applied and all seals will be replaced (i.e. front crystal gasket, back gasket, crown and some cases screw gaskets). This is usually only advised when a watch is serviced. Please email us if you have any more questions or enquiries.
